Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veterans Day! Happy Veterans Day! Today I think about the family and friends that do and have served in the military. What an amazing history this planet has. Its sad that military and wars have had to be such a big part of it.  But Ive known many servicemen and servicewomen who have the utmost integrity, and have served in a way to make their country proud. Let us think of them, and remember them and their many sacrifices today! Heres a post I recently did with a list of service providers who provide discounts to veterans who need help with a career transition: Career Service Providers Who Provide Discounts for Military Veterans Remember, JibberJobberUSA.com is the site for military and veterans, where they get one year of JibberJobber services free (as a thank you for their service). 7 Often-Overlooked Reasons To Write A Book - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

7 Often-Overlooked Reasons To Write A Book - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Although the personal branding benefits of writing a book are well known, there are also other reasons to write a book. In the long run, these often-overlooked benefits of writing a may turn out to be even more important that your original goal of writing a book to build your personal brand. The personal branding benefits of writing and publishing book are well known. (Mitchell Levys 42 Rules for Driving Success with Books is a great starting point, with concise, realistic case studies.) Writing a brand-building book: Enhances your visibility, positioning you as an expert in your field. Attracts pre-qualified prospects, permitting you to raise your rates and/or be more selective in choosing the clients you want to work with. Opens doors of profit and opportunity. During the past 12 years, Ive interviewed over over 500 authors who have written books that established brands that provided the linchpin for their business and subsequent success. In each case, their books provided the brand they needed to drive their forward. Benefits, beyond the brand But, theres more to writing a book than just building your personal brand! Here are some of the other benefits that entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals gain from writing a book: Skills. The skills you master writing a book are transferable to all types of written projects, i.e., articles, blog posts, email, new business proposals, podcasts, reports, speeches, and videos. Youll be better able to choose titles and headlines, organize your ideas, and express them as concisely as possible. Youll also be able to evaluate your own work and know what to look for when self-editing. Tools. Writing a book provides an opportunity to master important new tools for mind mapping, project management, and time management. These tools are at the core of entrepreneurial success, but, until now, you may have been too busy to discover them. After writing your book, you may find that your previous dislike of writing was actually based on a lack of familiarity with capabilities built into your word processing software and not knowing what types of resources are available for leveraging your time. Discipline. Writing a book is likely to change the way you view other large projects. Your writing and publishing experience will help you develop healthy work habits, such as chunking large projects into smaller, bite-sized tasks, and taking consistent daily action during short, scheduled working sessions. The next time a large project appears on the horizon, youll be more likely to analyze what needs to be done and establish a workflow that starts early and avoids stressful and wasteful deadline madness. Content. Writing a book helps you create better marketing content and a stronger author platform. As you write your book, youre also creating content you can share as articles, blog posts, podcasts, speeches, teleseminars, and webinars. Sharing your content early also generates feedback that builds interest in your book and helps you write a better book. Perspective. Writing a book is likely to change your perspective towards your abilities and the way you interact with others. Because each step of the writing and publishing process contains multiple alternatives, options, and opportunities to work with others, you may find yourself discovering options and alternatives elsewhere in your business and professional life. More important, since editing and revising are essential to writing a book, you may find yourself less impatient when your first attempts in other areas dont come out perfect. Confidence. Your life changes when you hold a book in your hand with your name on the title. When you hold your book in your hand, youve beaten the odds! Studies show that 85% of people in business want to write a book, but only 5% succeed. Your book is tangible proof that you not only are an expert in your field, but you also know how to harness your energies and finish all types of projects. Curiosity. Perhaps the most important benefit is the heightened curiosity youre likely to experience in your everyday business life. You may finding yourself reading more, and listening more critically, as you become more open to new ideas and more analytical. You may surprise yourself by considering possibilities for new articles and follow-up books. You may look forward to new writing challenges, like bog posts, follow-up titles, and speeches, curious about how theyre going to turn out when you start to write. Ultimately, the best reason to write a book is that it helps you recognize that writing is not merely a way to share your ideas with others, but writing is also the best way to discover ideas and connections lurking in your brain. Writing is also the best way to discover what you dont know but need to knowin order to reinforce your personal brand as an expert in your field. Writing a book to build your personal brand is a formula that works. However, there are also often-overlooked reasons to write a book; these are the skills, tools, habits, and changes in confidence and thinking patterns that often accompany writing a book.   If youve written a book, share your experiences, as comments, below. The Functioning Above Entry Level online course  helped me understand my own personal strengths and gain the confidence I needed to boldly move forward with my  calling. Heres my takeaway: This course was really well done with great content. It has a clean, simple platform that is easy to understand and follow. It also provided excellent guidance on something that Im a huge fan of: self-reflection. Not everyone takes the time to self-reflect and I really believe it can make the difference between excellence and mediocrity. I know that when I feeling stuck or unmotivated, the best thing I can do is stop and ask myself, Why do I feel this way?, What has happened recently that has shaped this feeling?, How can I move forward with skill and grace?. I have said this for years that the #1 key is to understand yourself and what makes you satisfied at work. You have to know your  values/motivations, your purpose, your interests, your ideal workday, your ideal work environment and your favorite skills. In order to understand yourself better you have to take the time to self reflect. The only problem is, even if you take the time, sometimes you dont know where to start. The good new is, this course gently guides you in the right direction so the time you take self reflecting is the most productive it can be. This course consists of an introductory email, three lessons, and a thank you email after course completion. This mini-course will put us on the path to master the following: Internal and external forces affecting how we think. Time for some self-reflecting on emotional intelligence. Thinking more about HOW and WHY we do the things we do or react the way we react is the first step in understanding ourselves better. Recognizing emotional intelligence and social intelligence factors giving us a better understanding of how we self-lead. Take some time to reflect on our leadership strengths. What has influenced us to mold those leadership strengths Examining 10 key areas in our life important in moving us above entry level The entire Functioning Above Entry Level mini-course can be considered a gentle reminder to have control over our emotions, thus having control over our life. Help us discover the four internal forces weigh upon us as we go through life and make decisions about our future. And lastly, understanding how external forces contribute to our well-being involves recognizing training, leadership, and national culture. ADDITIONAL INFO: The course is free, delivered to your inbox, and takes about 1 week and 3 4 hours to complete It consists of essays, videos, interactive polls, and download journals All content is taken from Concordia University Wisconsins 100% online one year Masters in Organizational Leadership and Administration Take advantage of this FREE course now! What Is the Key to Writing an Effective R.S.M.A?

What Is the Key to Writing an Effective R.S.M.A?Most writers are searching for an answer to the question 'what is the key to writing an effective R.S.M.A. ?' The search has many variations, but what is the answer is the question for most writers in various stages of their writing careers. One way to find out what is the key to writing an effective R.S.M.A. is to develop a set of skill sets that can help writers write better.Firstly, they should develop their skills in writing and editing. Every writer has strengths and weaknesses. Skills that can make the difference between a book that falls into the trash bin and one that is being read by lots of people. These skills need to be honed.Secondly, skills should be developed in social media (such as blogs and forums). The author should do more than merely to write a book; they should actively engage in the writing process, and social media sites give them a platform to do so. They should become part of the community building the culture o f the genre.Thirdly, they should develop their skill in editing. Writers are individuals with their own strengths and weaknesses. A good editor can identify their strengths and weaknesses and work with them. This makes the work of editing more like writing, and the writer gets more out of the process than they would without skill development.Fourthly, writers should develop their good sense of reader psychology. Readers look for connections, and it is easier to connect with someone who is interested in the same topic as you are. Readers often read long lists of information, so writers who have developed a good sense of reading flow should be encouraged to do so.Lastly, writers should develop their skill in content. Good writers know that if they want readers to pay attention, they need to use ideas and information that will hook them. That means they must create interesting topics and concepts, using clear and well-organized writing to keep their readers engaged. What is the key to w riting an effective R.S.M.A.? will be developed by the writer as they gain skill and experience.

4 Awesome Internetty Things For Out-of-Rut-Ness - When I Grow Up A preview of Crosbys jewelry line! ImprovEverywhere Famous for their pantsless subway rides, ImprovEverywhere videos make me laugh, kick me out of a rut, and generally make me feel warm fuzzies for being a part of a world where surprise musicals take place in grocery stores in Queens. Ben Trovato There is something about staring at incredible photographs of gorgeous women that helps get me out of my rut. What can I say?
